A ferry connecting the resort towns of Hua Hin and Pattaya has been suspended until Oct 31.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Royal Passenger Liner Co, the ferry operator, cites the "strong northeast monsoon across the Gulf of Thailand with strong wind waves 2-4 meters high" for the temporary closure.

The service is expected to resume in November once the unfavorable weather conditions have passed.

The ferry service between the two popular tourist destinations was officially launched in January last year, cutting the travel time from five hours to less than two hours.

On top of the unfavorable conditions, Thai media sources like Talk News Online cite there being too few passengers wanting to use the Royal Passenger Liner in the low season as reason for the suspension.
