The acai bowl (B260) at Brekkie

Despite the name, Brekkie goes well beyond breakfast to serve healthier options of hearty dishes all day long. Ingredients like quinoa, avocado, spirulina, flaxseed, acai berry and chia seed dominate the menu, whether it’s in their selection of Superbowl foods, their extensive breakfast menu, or their sandwiches. We recommend the acai bowl, a healthy serving of acai berry, banana, mixed berries, blended with cold-pressed apple juice and topped with homemade granola and chia seeds (B260).
Brekkie. 6/9 Sukhumvit Soi 39, 083-656-6141. Open daily 9am-6pm. www.fb.com/brekkiebangkok

The Asian quinoa slaw (starting B120) at Tonic

This sit-down salad bar is perfect for health-conscious eaters thanks to its specialty pre-mixed salads featuring vegetables and grains with no granulated sugar or oils other than coconut and olive oil. Among their constantly rotating mixtures, try the Asian quinoa slaw, which puts a healthy, vegetarian-friendly twist on the coleslaw by using quinoa seeds and local vegetables. Prices start at B120 for two kinds of salad. Add a third for B20 and protein for B50.
Tonic, Baan Phrompong, Sukhumvit Soi 39, 084-424-9454. Open Mon-Fri 9am-8pm; Sat 10am-4pm. www.fb.com/tonicbkk

The tomato and fig salad (B270) at Toby’s

This all-day Australian breakfast joint serves breakfast staples and specialty coffee, and just recently launched a dinner menu that focuses on small plates perfect for sharing. We recommend the tomato and fig salad served with feta, goat cheese, herbs, olives and walnuts with honey balsamic dressing (B270). Pair it with any of their small meat plates—whether it’s the grilled chicken with honey mustard sauce or the baked eggplant, tomato salsa and crab meat dish—for a healthy marriage of everything you need in a balanced diet.
Toby’s, 68/1 Sukhumvit Soi 38, 02-712-1774. Open Tue-Sun 9am-10:30pm. www.fb.com/tobys

The Miang Kana at (B150) Baan Phadthai

Charoenkrung’s new pad Thai restaurant places a big focus on delicious phad thai, but a healthier choice on the menu is the miang kana (B150), in which they switch from the usual betel leaves to Chinese kale leaves, served with other ingredients like shallot, ginger, chili, lime and peanuts in a basket. Topped with the homemade sauce, this is a much healthier alternative to the traditional Thai snack.
Baan Phadthai, 21-23 Charoenkrung Soi 44, 02 060 5553. BTS Saphan Taksin. Open daily 11am-10pm. www.fb.com/baanphadthai

The vegan “Zoodles” (B250) at Veganerie Concept

The second branch of the well-known dessert shop is a vegan’s heaven, to say the least, thanks to their focus on delicious savory dishes free from meat or dairy. For those craving a bit of guilt-free Italian, try the vegan “Zoodles”, which use zucchini, fresh tomatoes, soy sausage, pasta tomato sauce and vegan nut parmesan.
Veganerie Concept, 35/1 Soi Methi Niwet, Sukhumvit Rd., 02-258-8489. Open Mon-Sat 7am-10pm; Sun 8am-10pm. www.fb.com/VeganBakeryBangkok

The green curry quinoa risotto (B280) at Absolute Fit Food

What started out as a delivery service for the Absolute wellness empire (known for their yoga and pilates studios) has now transformed into a health-focused cafe serving up calorie-friendly dishes. While the menu is constantly rotating, one of the regular signature dishes is the superfood-heavy green curry quinoa risotto, a recipe high in antioxidants, omega-3 and protein that turns the much-loved green curry dish into a guilt-free meal.
Absolute Fit Food, The Commons, Thonglor Soi 17, 091-872-0885. Open Mon-Thu 9am-9pm; Fri-Sun 9am-10pm. www.absolutefitfood.com
