Havana Social

We've talked about Havana's crazily delicious Cubanos before, so it only seems fitting we start this list off with them. This secret bar recently added a second-floor cigar lounge and little food cart out front which serves up sandwiches and empanadas. Now you can spend your evening with a Cuban cigar in one hand and a Cuban sandwich (complete with pulled pork and a killer mustard, B280) in the other.

Holey Artisan Bakery

Although a bakery may not be your first choice when picking up this sandwich, Holey isn't your average bakery. Here, British baker Maurice Chaplais makes his bread and pastries from scratch, highlighting the use of unbleached flour, house-made sourdough, glaze and frosting. According to the chef, most of the bread and croissants take 2-3 days to make, resulting in deeply flavorful products. Holey's Cubano (B300) is part of their new grilled sandwich menu and needless to say it's chock-full of nuanced flavor.

Azul

This "Nuevo Latino" (new Latin) spot is on a mission to prove there’s more than tortillas to Latin American food. As such, it serves a variety of dishes with heavy Cuban-American influence. Their cuban sandwich (B240) is a standout and shows how tasty a simple sandwich can be when it's made by the right people: all gooey, sweet cheese and salty pork. Served with yuca fries.
