The 8 best cafes in Ari and Victory Monument
Ari’s reputation for indie spirit now stretches all the way to BTS Phaya Thai—not forgetting Soi Rangnam, which is alive with charming cafes.
The neighborhood’s many cycling geeks bring a genuine sense of community to this charmingly makeshift bike cafe. Vintage prints and tasteful bric-a-brac lend Aran a creative edge, while baristas dedicated to the slow-bar technique ensure coffee that’s fruity, light and packed with flavor. Route out new bike gear in the adjoining showroom, or kick back and enjoy the free WiFi with a homemade muffin.
128/10 Paholyothin Soi 2, 081-821-9603. BTS Ari. Open daily 10am-9pm
Classic bistro meets modern coffee shop in Bar Storia’s mix of lusciously polished floors, gleaming wood panels and antique green walls. The skillet of sausage and eggs in a rich tomato stew as well as the al dente seafood penne make this one of the neighborhood’s top spots for simple Euro flavors, while the leafy side-street setting truly lives up to Ari’s reputation.
13 Soi 4 (Ari), 02-057-9448. Open Sun-Thu 9am-11pm; Fri-Sat 9am-midnight
Rangnam’s favorite cafe wins over the neighborhood with housemade pasta and equally good coffee. The owner, a self-taught chef, whips up her own versions of breakfast staples like the open sandwich with egg, avocado and shrimp roe, ciabatta with egg, bacon and cheese, and Thai-style khao tom. To drink, try coffee from local roaster P&F, house-blended tea from Mali Ateli, or unique soda drinks like Lady Versailles (rose, rambutan, soda).
112/4 Sri Ayutthaya Soi 2, Rangnam Rd., 088-399-9699. Open Mon-Fri 10am-8pm; Sat-Sun 9am-9pm
This cafe doubles as a delivery service bringing ice cream, baked goods and coffee to your door. The shop itself is a pretty minimal affair, putting a clear focus on quality coffee. Beans come courtesy of top local roasters like Ceresia and Brave, with blends as well as single origins from Kenya and Colombia available as latte or flat white, French press or hot and cold drip. Each morning, staff bake croissants, pork pies and brownies.
Phahon Yothin Soi 5, 062-416-7746. BTS Ari. Open Mon-Sat 8am-5pm
During the day, Phaya Thai’s hipsters come here for creative coffee mocktails pawed over by floppy-haired baristas amid raw concrete, vintage Americana and dry floral bouquets. They also pour alcoholic drinks that rub shoulders with the best craft cocktails in the city at the adjoining Feeu bar.
35/18 Phaya Thai Rd., 085-145-4184. BTS Phaya Thai. Open daily 8am-6pm
Breakfast Sticking to a bright white theme like its sister cafe right across the road, this restaurant is all about mornings. Take a seat at one of the cool marble tables and indulge in playful classics such as the Queen of Egg Benny, which comprises a poached egg, grilled tomatoes and smoked salmon with truffle hollandaise sauce. Or go with the always-delicious matcha French toast.
116/55-57 Rangnam Rd., 02-245-6138. Open Wed-Sun 6:30am-4pm; Mon 6:30am-4pm; Tue 6:30am-noon

Tucked behind Made Here on Earth workshop space and Yo frozen yogurt shop, Sati’s glasshouse coffee shop provides the perfect, daytime friendly space to enjoy their slow-bar specialties and in-house creations like the peanut butter latte and coconut latte. They also serve nitro cold brew coffee. You can even customize your drink with their playful syrups (available in flavors as diverse as tom yum and candle smoke). When the weather permits, it also has one of the nicest coffee shop terraces around.
110/4, Rama 6 Rd., 095-929-5925 Open daily 8am-midnight
Ari’s award-winning drip coffee specialist Sutdrip has moved to a new space. Here, Sutida Srirungthum, winner of National Thailand Brewers Cup 2016, serves her rotating drip coffee alongside espresso-based cups and fruit blends. Do try her coffee shake, a drip coffee shaken cold with ice. Food can be ordered from former neighbor Khaobahn restaurant. The space itself shuns current coffee shop cliches in favor of more classic, Victorian furnishings.
