Seobinggo

Bangkok's first Korean dessert cafe, Seobinggo, is causing a stir in the middle of Siam Square.   The main attraction is bingsu, but this is no ordinary shaved ice: the fine, snow-like ground frozen milk is piled high to resemble a mountain, which you can decorate with a choice of toppings. The toast here is also filled with specially made tteok (rice cake).    Try the cheese bingsu (B250), topped with grated parmesan cheese and chunks of cheesecake.

Pinkberry

Frozen yogurt brands have been popping up all over Bangkok for years, now Pinkberry offers a taste of upscale, Hollywood froyo. Having built a name for its tart-tasting frozen yogurt, the company has expanded to 21 countries. You can find its humble start in Bangkok on the second floor of Central Chidlom.

Dadaya

One of the few shops in Bangkok offering the traditional Japanese sweet treat obanyaki (a form of roundcake with various fillings) has moved from its old location at Center One to Central Plaza Ladprao. The new Dadaya has a more Japanese look to it, and not only does traditional sweet obanyaki in flavors like red bean and custard (both B40) but also many cheap savory options dishes, such as the squid okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza, B45), chicken teriyaki (B45) and tuna salad (B45).Also, keep your eye out for monthly special obanyaki fillings like Japanese curry.

Croissant Taiyaki

Having conquered Instagram with pop-up booths at Esplanade Ratchadapisek and Siam Square in recent months, Croissant Taiyaki has finally opened permanent outlets at Mega Bangna, Emquartier and Siam Center.   The Japanese brand offers a playful twist on traditional taiyaki (fish-shaped cake) by using croissant dough instead of cake batter.   Join the queues at either branch for the classic red bean (B60), cold custard (B65) and ham and cheese (B70) options.
