The buzz: After kicking off the winter festive season by setting up its first two Heineken Space right in front of CentralWorld and Esplanade, now the brand introduces two new venues at the much-hyped locations of Parc Paragon (opening Dec 23) and the newbie EmQuartier (reviewed here). It's the first time we're seeing this space used to host a pop-up bar and the results are impressive.

The decor: Unlike the first space Heineken opened in CentralWorld on Nov 1, which is more of an outdoor concert space, EmQuartier's fifth-floor Quartier Water Garden resembles a cozy rooftop garden. The panoramic views of downtown Bangkok are a nice bonus.

The music: The garden welcomes toe-tapping three-piece acoustic sets from Room 39 (Dec 2), Watcharawalee (Dec 7), Scrubb (Dec 10) and Lipta (Dec 24) for a laid-back atmosphere, in contrast with the more rock-heavy beer parks elsewhere in Bangkok.

Note that coming soon on Dec 23, Parc Paragon will be transformed into an outdoor concert stage. The open-air music lounge will showcase Thailand’s in-demand bands like the funk-infused pop-rockers Jetset’er (Dec 23), the up-and-coming The Parkinson (Dec 29), alternative rock band Mild (Dec 31) for the special countdown event, and pop-soloist Wan Thanakrit on Jan 2 to welcome us back from the long holiday.

The food & drinks: The highlight for this year is draught Heineken Extra Cold, a beer that’s served at the optimal temperature of below zero degrees. For something fancier, they also offer four special Hoptails (that’s beer cocktails) which you can only find at this year’s Heineken Space. Don’t miss the Orange Sunrise (Heineken mixed with gin, Aperol, orange juice and bitters) and Man of the World (Heineken mixed with coffee liqueur, hazelnut liqueur, amaretto and coke). There’s also a list of drink-friendly dishes to check out.
