This year saw the closure of some of the city's favorite markets, including Tha Phra Chan Amulet Market and On Nut Market, but here's some good news: Suan Lum Night Bazaar, once the city's biggest night market, returns tomorrow (Dec 23).

Closed back in 2011 after land lease expiry, the popular market is now making its long-awaited return under the same name, despite the fact that it's moved well away from Suan Lum over to Ratchadaphisek Road.

Set for an official opening in Feburary, with a soft launch event tomorrow, it's been said that many of the vendors from the original market will be making their way over to set up camp at the new space, which is reported to cover a total of 125,000 square meters or nearly 2,000 shops.

The new area will also include a shopping complex and a 4-star hotel alongside the open-air market, promising more high-end fashion stalls, a boxing ring, a cabaret show and more.

Stay tuned to BK for updates. In related news, the third branch of the Rod Fai Night Market opened earlier this month.
