It sure does seem like there's a million things to eat this month, especially with so many food events, new menus and pop-ups dotting our city. As the Singapore Food Festival draws closer, we zoom in on one of the many exciting offshoot activities taking place—the second edition of Timbre+'s Open Stoves happening on Jul 28-30.

Hokkien Mee, French Bouillabaisse Broth style and fresh seafood by Alexander Chong (Garcons Express) x Walter Tay (Father & Son)

This year’s instalment will see new-gen hawkerpreneurs working together with Timbre+’s food partners to create unique off-the-menu street food-inspired treats that will be available exclusively only on those three days. The pairings will feature the likes of chefs Wing Lam (The World is Flat) and Gwern Khoo (A Noodle Story) serving up a simple-looking coconut cream prawn croquette sandwich topped with a generous toppings of laksa cheese, as well as chefs Alexander Chong (Garcons Express) and Walter Tay (Father & Son) presenting a fancy Hokkien mee featuring French Bouillabaisse broth with seafood. Timbre+ will also be converting their outdoor courtyard into a street food market-esque area, complete with inflatable sofas, beanbags and an outdoor bar. Manning the three live wok stations that will fill the air with “wok-hei” fragrances are Timbre+’s resident Char Express, along with two other “wok masters”.

Umai Don by Teppei Yamashita (Teppei Daidokoro) x Kai Koh (Roast Paradise)

Also new this year, you’ll get to watch live broadcasts of chef interviews and the secrets that happen behind the scenes as roving cameras capture footages throughout the three days.

Once you're done filling your bellies, you can either go old-school with a game of giant Jenga and Connect-Four, or switch it up with some beer pong, an eating competition or old school arcade games at the Retro Arcade Zone. Of course, it's not complete without Timbre resident bands SuperSonic and O.K READY!, who'll be amping up the atmosphere and completing the event with great tunes.

Admission is free. For more updates, check out their Facebook page.
