The SRT (State Railway of Thailand) Electrified Train Company’s new CEO, Peerakan Kaeowongwattana, has promised you’ll see vast improvements on the 28-km Airport Rail Link within his first three months on the job. He promises to increase the frequency of City Trains (as opposed to the unpopular Express) at peak hours. Due to their success at Phaya Thai Station, he also plans on adding escalators to more stations—if you’ve ever dragged a suitcase up the gazillion steps at an Airport Link station, this is welcome news. Other plans include a skywalk at Makkasan to the MRT, and better park & ride facilities. The new CEO is hoping the company will earn over a billion baht a year. Maybe he can share some of that cash with the SRT and save Makkasan from overdevelopment.
