Bangkok’s newest shopping and entertainment destination SHOW DC just premiered the spectacular Himmapan Avatar show. The world’s first 360-degree stage performance takes inspiration from the legendary Himmapan forest in Hindu mythology. Created by CMO Show Corp, the joint venture of CMO Public Company Ltd. and Show DC Corp, the magnificent “All-Dimensional Fantasy Live Show” of Himmapan Avatar breaks new ground for theaters in Thailand with a spectacle unlike anything ever staged in the region.
Journey to Another World
Enter this incredible stage-show world through a brilliantly illuminated tunnel that leads the way to the fantastical Himmapan Forest. Mythical plants resembling those from the movie Avatar come to life in mulit-color glory, only this world it's far richer than any Hollywood blockbuster, as the Himmapan myth is drawn from Thai culture and beliefs. The wonders of the Himmapan Forest stretch back through Thai literature to the reign of King Maha Dhammaraja I (Phraya Lithai) and the Sukhothai Kingdom, 700 years ago. A series of 30 historical books discuss the three worlds of Buddhist Cosmology which depict Himmapan as the land between Heaven and Earth, where magical creatures, mythical plants and demigods live amid six forests and seven ponds including Anodard, the magical pond where water never runs dry.
Endless Imagination
With the aim of creating the best show ever, the team of Himmapan Avatar has gone to incredible lengths to overcome unprecedented technological challenges. The outcome is a phenomenal 360-degree show in which audiences experience the reverie of Himmapan in multiple dimensions. A B800 million investment was lavished on designing the 5,000 sq meter space into a 700-seat theater that intertwines various forms of visual and performance arts with animation, music, animatronics and 4D techniques. The outcome is unlike anything else in Bangkok.
Great Battles
Thailand’s leading vocalists including the soprano Teeranai “Nammon” Na Nongkai and Narintorn Na Bangchang tell a story which digs deep into the history and characters of this magical land. Discover all about the invasion of Asura, God of Darkness, and the nail-biting battles between God, His creatures and the courageous Angel Bird.
Into the Miraculous Wild
After the grandiose performance, it’s time for the real wonderland of Himmapan Avatar, during which spectators will witness the “All-Dimensional Fantasy Live Show” inside the colossal hall of Himmapan Forest. Walk your way through an magical, musical world where mythical creatures, plants and flowers gather. From left to right, from back to front, you will be surrounded by the great fantasy forest, including the grand waterfall and its Gem of Blessing. Over 100 performers take their place on the incredible set, including the Devil Bird, Angel Bird, Monkey Birds and mermaids. It's here that you can get up close and persnal with the preformers, and even take your selfie with the magical creatures.
Every Day is a SHOW day
The 70-minute-long Himmapan Avatar show is located on the 4th floor of SHOW DC. Performances are available in both Thai and English. English performances run Wed-Mon at 7:30pm while Thai performances take place at 2:30pm on weekends and holidays. Tickets cost B1,400, B1,700 and B2,000.
