How To Get There

Public buses:
Through Oct 24, between 8am-3pm, there are free buses leaving every hour from Victory Monument (Ratchawithi Hospital side), BTS Wong Wien Yai, Taling Chan Bus Terminal and National Stadium.

Through Oct 24, between 8am-4pm, 130 buses are offering free rides from in front of BTS Krung Thonburi, in front of Victory Monument, the entrance of National Stadium Rama 1 Rd. and parking spot of southern line bus (Pin Klao).

There is a bus from Future Park Rangsit 8am-9pm every day.

From Oct 17 onwards, between 9am-8pm, the Royal Thai Navy also provides six buses for three routes: leaving from Somdet Phra Pin Klao Hospital, Pata Pinklao and Nang Lerng.   

AIS is also providing free buses at four points throughout the whole mourning period: Mo Chit Bus Station, Ekkamai Bus Station, Hua Lamphong Train Station and Pinklao Bus Station.

Express boats:
From Oct 17 onwards, there are two express boats servicing between Sathorn-Tha Chang at 7am, 8am, 5pm and 6pm.

Trains:
Through Nov 12, people around the country can travel (return trip) for free by train to Bangkok from Ayutthaya, Nakhon Pathom, Surin, Kon Khaen, Pitsanulok and Chacheongsao to pay their respects.

Cloth-dying stations
The non-formal education department has set up cloth-dying stations at Sanam Luang area and Ministry of Education to assist people who don’t have or can’t afford black clothes.

Free food and drinks
From Oct 17 onwards, from 11:30am, free meals (chicken pumpkin soup/drunken noodles) for 5,000 people near Thammasat University Tha Prachan.

Free canteen set up for dining every day at Pin Klao Bridge; those who want to dine there should register beforehand at the central booth.


Volunteering

Trash Heroes are picking up trash in the Wat Pra Kaew area every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the whole mourning period. The meeting point is at the Royal Pavilion Mahajetsadabadin in front of Metal Castle, Rachanatda Temple, at 7pm.


Dress Code

Men: black (or white/gray) collar shirts, T-shirts without big color prints, long black pants, black suits, leather shoes or sneakers in polite colors.

Women: black (or white/gray) shirts without prints, no skin-tight or low-cut clothes, at least knee-length black dresses or skirts with tights, black suit jackets or cardigans can be worn over sleeveless shirts, closed-toe shoes (avoid stilettos, strappy sandals and flip-flops).

If you don’t have black clothes or have to wear a uniform for work, black ribbons can be worn on the left side of you chest. Black ribbons are being handed out around the Sanam Luang area, or you can make one yourself (www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtTLqRDdM3A).


Paying Respects Without Traveling to Sanam Luang

There will be a live stream of the funeral prayer on a large LED screen for the next 100 days (starting Oct 17, 9am) in front of the Chalermprakiat building and Nimibutr building (National Stadium). 

Daily rites for the king every day at all temples around the country for one month at 3:52pm (the time of HM the King’s passing) with mass merit ceremonies happening on the 7th, 50th and 100th day after his passing on Oct 13.

Condolence books are being placed at various gathering points around the city, including malls like EmQuartier, CentralWorld and Siam Paragon.
