Mobile phone operator AIS has partered with the popular movie and TV show streaming service Netflix, as recently announced at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. This will be Netflix's first partnership with a phone operator in Thailand.

Although details have yet to be announced, a tweet from AIS executive Saran Phalopakarn states that users of AIS Playbox will soon be able to stream Netflix shows, whether it's Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things or Black Mirror, at 4K Ultra-HD resolution. Aside from that, other plans for the AIS and Netflix partnership still remain unclear.

The news comes after AIS announced their partnership with HBO, Fox and NBA last month, meaning users will soon be able to access the channels on their smartphones. The deal also includes HBO Go, the on-demand streaming service similar to Netflix, promising options for Thai subtitles and voiceovers for every show on the service. Whether this means Netflix will soon be available for AIS smartphone users too still remains to be seen.

Netflix finally entered Thailand in January last year, currently offering services priced from B280-420 per month.
