For many generations, Chainat locals have created sculptures of various types of birds from leftover rice straw from the end of rice harvest. These hoon fang nok have become symbols of the province, attracting thousands of visitors (mostly kids) every year, especially during its annual fair. Now in its 28th year, the Chainat Straw Bird Fair will be held again on Feb 8-17, featuring giant-sized bird sculptures along with local produce stalls and entertainment shows.
