Bangkok Airways (www.bangkokair.com) is celebrating its 45th anniversary with special airfares to all of its destinations. A single-trip ticket to domestic destinations, from Chiang Mai to Samui, starts from B945, while Southeast Asian destinations start from B1,945, India from B2,945 and the Maldives from B7,945. Tickets are valid during May 16-Sep 30 but you need to hurry as the deadline for bookings is Apr 15. You might not get the starting rates, but we did find a B2,090 roundtrip ticket to Phuket—a much nicer way to get there than flying on a low-cost.

The airline has also just enabled a prepaid baggage service for those planning on taking an excess load. Beyond the included 20kg in the fare, rates are from B300/5kg for domestic, and B1,000/5kg for international, which represents savings of 20-25% compared to prices at the check-in counter.
