Seventeen-year-old Apichet "Ma-daew" Atirattana, better known as "Thai-Baan Fashionista," is now living the dream after launching his debut fashion collection in collaboration with socialite-artist Kongpat Sakdapitak.

Ma-daew’s costume designs using simple objects such as chicken wire, plants and concrete blocks became an internet sensation last year. His story can be traced back to his own Khon Kaen bedroom, where as a 12-year-old he started designing evening dresses made with mosquito nets and blankets.

“I've never spent a single baht on creating an outfit; I only use what I already have,” he told BK in a Nov 2015 interview.

This newly launched collection, dubbed KOxMA, blends Ma-daew's iconic “Thai-baan” style with creative, high-fashion touches from Kongpat. The result is contemporary streetwear with a unique Thai edge.

The collection comprises more than 200 unique items, from regular shirts and pants with Thai checker patterns to sportswear and accessories like hats and bags. The items infuse quirky prints like flower garlands, banana leaves and even chicken wire, making the designs truly unique.

Ma-daew's singular vision and rise to international prominence has seen him labeled an inspiration to both young aspiring designers and “third gender” kids around Thailand.

Items from the KOxMA collection are available at the KO-MA pop-up store at Siam Center until Oct 27, and through www.wehavefund.com.
