Despite the many new fine-dining Indian players in town, none quite come close to the the regal charms of Bangkok’s original purveyor of curries with majesty. But the elaborate plasterwork and sky-high views would be worth nothing if it weren’t for Rang Mahal’s sinfully rich curries, perfectly barbecued tandoori meats and well-charred breads. The Sunday brunch remains one of Bangkok’s must-do experiences.

Every Sunday from 11am-2:30pm, the restaurant has rolled out two new brunch menus that rotate weekly. At B990 net, they’re some of the best priced brunches in town.

Start with the grilled paneer (cottage cheese) and pineapple chaat before moving onto the meaty murgh khurchan (shredded chicken cooked with onion and tomato gravy, spiced with green cardamon).

Rang Mahal also does some of the best kebabs in town. The lamb hyderabady shammi kebab comes heavily spiced with cinnamon and cardamon. On other weeks, Rang Mahal has also introduced new tawa seekh kebabs of minced mutton cooked with onion and tomato masala, and palak aur makai ke kebab, a combination of deep fried spinach, potato, cottage cheese and corn kernel.

The Rang Mahal Sunday brunch runs every week from 11am-2:30pm.

Rang Mahal, 26/F, Rembrandt Hotel, 19 Sukhumvit Soi 18, Bangkok, 02-261-7100, Open daily 6pm-midnight; Sun 11am-2:30pm
