Gastronom (A-Square, Sukhumvit Soi 26, 02-259-6138) has added a tapas menu to its formerly very breakfasty offering. The new tapas dishes combine touches of Thai and Australian cuisines such as seared quails with quince aioli (B220), seared scallop with romesco sauce, braised pork belly (B320) or some Aussie oysters (B200), from 6:30pm.

If you’re craving some Vietnamese, note down the new location of Dalad (Aree Soi 4 [North], 02-271-2108-9). The retro house provides the same homey and cozy vibe, complete with floral wallpaper and wooden furnishings, so sit back and enjoy their nam neung (grilled pork meatballs wrapped with rice paper, B190) and deep-fried banana (B100).

Far-flung restaurant Gyudon Express (G/F, Big C Ekkamai, Sukhumvit Soi 63, 084-655-8999) just opened a second branch closer to the city (the original is on Vipawadee Road). The cute new creation is said to be inspired by a children’s playground with kids’ toys and books littering the wooden décor. The food sees a focus on don (rice with topping); try the signature gyudon (rice topped with beef and poached egg, B190) or something new like the chashu don (braised pork on rice, B180).
