Yet another new restaurant in the Ari neighborhood, Ton Hom (44 Soi Aree 5, Paholyothin Rd., Bangkok, 02-619-5388, 081-938-4245) is easy to spot due to its big barn-like appearance and large parking lot. On top of Thai dishes like yam ton hom (scallions in spicy salad, B150) and gaeng kiew wan (lamb in green curry, B390), the place also serves sushi with a platter starting from B200.

Over on the other side of town, this month, Elements (25/F, The Okura Prestige, Park Ventures Ecoplex, 57 Wireless Rd., Bangkok, 02-687-9000) welcomes German Chef Tim Raue to cook dinner for two nights on Jan 30-31. Expect the type of Thai, Chinese and Japanese specialties that have earned his eponymous restaurant, in Berlin, two Michelin stars. The six-course dinner is B4,200 or B5,600 with wines.
