Decked out as a faux-Japanese village, Hako Town (Praditmanutham Rd., Bangkok, 086-881-8785. www.hakotown.com) is an open-air food court that offers a very different dining experience in the Crystal Design Center neighborhood in Northern Bangkok. You’ll have to purchase coupons (redeemable for up to a year) to order from eight different booth-like restaurants serving Japanese dishes from sushi and yakitori to ramen. Highlights include the yaki shiitake (grilled mushroom, B25) that you pick up fresh from the mushroom grower and the dried soba with pork and seafood (B75). Or you can always kick back with some sake in the Japanese garden. The prices are reasonable because the owner says he built the place to allow Mahidol University management students to run their own businesses.
