Baker Gonna Bake

This online bakery turned full-time cafe lifts its bright, wood-heavy decor with handicraft touches, while the menu has expanded to more savory items. Choose from Thai charcoal-braised chicken, pad kaprao chicken and eggs Benedict on croissant. The focus is still very much on sweets, though, with a new bingsu (shaved milk ice) line offering creative versions of the Korean-hailing dessert like mascarpone and apple. Coffee beans are sourced from local coffee roaster Somersault.

Sukhumvit Soi 26. BTS Phrom Phong. Open daily 9am-7pm

Casa Lapin X26

Casa’s biggest branch supplies not just an industrial cafe with on-site roasted coffee but also a co-working space, hostel and restaurant. Grab an espresso brewed using their house Chiang Rai beans, or go with one of the different single origins from the slow bar. Hungry? Order the pork chop or a dish of spaghetti from Oneday at a Time restaurant out back.

Sukhumvit Soi 26, BTS Phrom Phong. Open daily 8am-10pm

This adorable standalone house serves excellent French crepes. Deep in the labyrinthine Soi 39, its clapboard interior and exterior of muted grays draws a sophisticated brunch crowd. A classic crepe of egg, ham and grated cheese is the obvious crowd-pleaser, but the kitchen also tries inventive combinations like scallops with asaparagus.

Chic yet relaxed, on trend yet original, this mid-century house introduces Bangkok to a weekend brunch that takes inspiration from Melbourne with produce-centric dishes to share. Complementing them is a beautiful garden where chickens roam freely and the only noise is birdsong. Thanks to excellent coffee, wonderful cocktails and produce-driven cooking, brunch here is a rare treat indeed.

Grind Size

The palette of turquoise offers colorful relief from the stock coffee-shop look of concrete on wood. The coffee bar highlights two blends from local micro-roasters in Bangkok and Chiang Mai (also available to purchase and grind at home), along with rotating filter coffee, cold brew coffee and tea. Grab yourself a coffee and croissant on weekday mornings, or drop by during brunch for a plate of bacon and eggs over French toast.

Sukhumvit Soi 39, 091-774-3653. Open Mon-Thu 8am- 6pm; Fri-Sun 8am-8pm

Holey Artisan Bakery

Phrom Phong foodies head here to grab their morning bread fix. Owner Nasirul Alam makes his bread and pastries from scratch, highlighting the use of unbleached flour, glaze and frosting. The results are deeply flavorful and hard to beat. Don’t miss their baguette, sourdough bread and butter croissant or sweeter picks like the rich chocolate cake and carrot cake. The bakery also serves coffee and coldpressed juice.

245/12 Sukhumvit Soi 31, 091-720-1074. MRT Sukhumvit. Open daily 7am-7pm

Patissez

The original creator of the trending “freakshakes” from Canberra, Australia now serves its overloaded drinks in Bangkok, alongside more Aussie-style cafe food. The photogenic shakes come in five different varieties: nutella pretzel, mint chocolate, banana caramel, Thai tea white chocolate (exclusive to Bangkok), and watermelon and berries. On top of that, you can get all-day brunchy dishes like smashed avocado on toast and giant beef burgers.

Quince

The years have been kind to Quince, which has graduated from hip kid to perennial favorite. Specializing in fuss-free plates, its Mediterranean-tinged menu places local, seasonal ingredients center stage. The little garden is arguably the best brunch spot in town and the wine list is particularly inspired, with lots of smaller, organic, European domains.

Organic grocers-slash-cafe-slash-restaurant Simple offers up excellent produce sourced from local farmers and artisans amid a warm, homely setting. Expect English breakfasts, shakshuka, bacon corn hash and granola. The welcoming staff will also give you the lowdown on where the produce comes from. Our favorite dish: the spicy black risotto.

Sweet Pista

Cheesecakes, kakigori and crumbles provide Thonglor’s dessert-seekers with good reason to seek out this sleek, bare concrete cafe in a residential neighborhood. But the menu also packs some full-on meaty flavor courtesy of a dry-aging fridge filled with slabs of US beef. Other all-day crowd-pleasers include burgers and chicken waffles, while those after a good cheesesteak won’t be disappointed either.

Once a vegan dessert cafe, this name also now does savory dishes like zucchini pasta, vegan sausage, mushroom burgers and vegan massaman curry served with air-fried roti. Finish with sweet treats like cashew nut paste-based cheese pies and waffles.

35/2 Soi Methi Niwet, Sukhumvit Rd., 02-258-8489, 089- 628-8803. BTS Phrom Phong. Open daily 10am-10pm
