Tucked inside the meat-centric restaurant Wild & Co, in the place that was once music and booze institution Stu-fe, Black Cabin Bar is Bangkok’s latest hidden bar.

The bar looks to rekindle the live music spirit of its predecessor, all amid a moodily lit cabin vibe of dark red lighting and faux animals. Here, the partner-owners from Loy Shy music bar in Ratchathewi promise live bands covering genres as diverse as  jazz, soul, blues and electro, along with vinyl-heavy DJ sets.

The weekly schedule is packed: Tuesday is dedicated to blues, Thursday to folk and post-rock, Friday to experimental electronic house, Saturday to modern soul and Sunday to groovy jazz, while they also promise the occasional special gig (upcoming ones include Sangsom Massacre, The Layers and Higher Learning this May 20 and Spooky Sounds from the Universe this May 25).

Drinks include a selection of single malts, Thai craft beers like Chalawan, Mahanankhon and Lumzing (all B220)  as well as refreshing signature cocktails, such as the Pink Chandelier (Jameson, creme de cassis, syrup, lime juice, mint leaves and sparkling wine, B380) and White Lies (Mekhong, Aperol, pineapple juice, syrup, lemon juice and egg white, B280). (Do be warned, everyone is expected to down a shot if someone rings the golden bell by the bar.)

They're also offering some pretty good drinks deals right now: buy-one-get-one for creatives and designers on Tuesdays, free-flow drinks for ladies from 8:30-10pm on Wednesdays, and buy-one-get-one on house pours and beers from 8-11pm on Sundays. Lily Kittisrikangwan
