Koh Samui is getting a new arts and music festival
De La Soul, Goldie, Mad Professor and more reasons why there's more to this festival season than Wonderfruit.
It seems Wonderfruit has company. Early next year (Jan 7-8, 2017), Koh Samui's Big Buddha Beach will welcome a new two-day arts and music event dubbed Paradise Island Festival.
Organized by Soundcrash, the UK-based party organizers known for events such as Croatia's Soundwave Festival, the festival promises a lineup of both international and local artists and it's already announced some heavy-hitters in the form of De La Soul (pictured), LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Maribou State, Anchorsong and Mad Professor with more to come.
Alongside the music, organizers promises a variety of art workshops and classes covering Thai performance art, traditional art, yoga classes, massage, cooking and more.
The festival aims to be a more eco-friendly alternative to the notorious Full Moon parties, with organizers also pledging to launch a scholarship fund and education program for rural Thai children.
Early-bird tickets go on sale this Aug 12, 11am, for B2,200 from www.paradiseislandfestival.com.
