French vodka label Grey Goose has created Bangkok's most expensive cocktail. Appropriately titled the Grey Goose L’Aristocrate, it draws inspiration from the opulent lifestyles of French nobles during the reign of King Louis XV to create one seriously toffee-nosed tipple.

So, just what does it take to make a drink worth B1,200++? Here are five things that make this 18th-century-inspired beverage the most precious in town.

1. Moser’s limited edition Lady Hamilton drinking set

These hand-cut crystal glasses from Czechoslovakia cost B22,000 a piece. Why should you care? Because glass really does make a difference to how your drink tastes. Fine, lead crystal has been found to dramatically bring out flavor in a variety of spirits.

2. Noilly Prat French vermouth

This 200-year-old French brand is widely considered to be the difference between a good martini and a bad one. And it's not even available in Bangkok outside this cocktail at Mandarin Oriental's Bamboo Bar.

3. Dashfire Bitters and a high-quality plum liqueur

The king of handcrafted cocktail bitters, Minnesotan Lee Egbert's Dashfire company is the result of extensive travels around the world to discover the most amazing combinations of herbs and spices. Add a touch of sweetness from a secret plum liqueur and you have one beautiful combination.

4. The perfect setting

Design Studio P49's reworking of Bamboo Bar has made this jazz institution quite simply one of the most stunning bars in town: moody, classic, creative, and complemented perfectly by amazing live jazz performances.

5. Grey Goose vodka

The French vodka is distilled only once using a continuous-column distillation process that preserves the flavor of the wheat. Even today, Grey Goose's founder, Francois Thibault, oversees every step of the process.
