There have been some developments with the Big Trees Project, not least of which is that they’ve joined forces with the BMA to try and further raise awareness about the city’s stock of perennial woody plants. The newly launched Bangkok Big Trees Competition asks the public to take pictures of their fave tree and then post the photo, along with some contact details (for you and the tree), on www.bangkokbigtrees.com before March 11. The individual trees will then be judged in four categories: swimsuit, talent, oh no sorry, we mean: largest, tallest, most beautiful and most valuable, as decided by a team of experts for the first two, and by the public for the last two. So get out there today, hug a tree, then take its photo. You could make an aging coconut palm very happy.
