If there's one thing Bangkok needs it's more stores selling colorful macarons. But these are no ordinary macarons.

The high-end French bakery Ladurée will open its first Bangkok branch at Siam Paragon (M/F) this week.

The soft opening will take place this Friday (Sep 19), with the grand opening to follow on Sep 24. A French chef and staff will be in attendance.

Parisians in-the-know now get their macarons from Pierre Herme. But Laduree has been around since 1862 and crank out thousands of the little double-decker treats every day, making them the gold standard against which other macarons are measured.

You can expect a queue and a pretty price-tag.
