BANGKOK BAR

Revolucion Cocktail

Bigger bar, more space for dancing, very (very) strong drinks, and delicious Mexican food at the new location.
The buzz: The colorful Latin American-themed bar moved from its old location of Sathorn Soi 10 to the Holiday Inn Silom, offering an even bigger dance floor and bar with a secret entrance for late-night partying.

The vibe: The new space comes with a bigger bar equipped with backlight, giving the dimly-lit dance floor an orange glow—just enough to see bodies moving but still keep things mysterious. Their reggaeton music keeps up with the Latin American theme and makes people want to shake their groove thing, even when sitting down.

The drinks: Don’t be fooled by the sweet, easy-to-down cocktails, these drinks are strong. Like, strong. Hits remain on the menu, like the tom kha gai cocktail (five-spice-infused vodka, galangka, coconut, lime, B331), which tastes so much like the real thing you will almost want to have it over rice. On our last visit, we really loved the pandan coconut daiquiri (Havana Club 3-year-old rum fat-washed with coconut oil, pandan syrup, lime, sugar, B331); the coconut oil really softens and smoothes the taste of the rum. If you’re feeling like a dessert, the Oreo Garden (Havana Club 7-year-old rum, Bailey’s, coconut puree, fresh mint, raspberry, cookie syrup, B357) will hit the spot just right.

Why we’d come back: There are only a few places in Bangkok we don’t mind stumbling into late at night to catch a few dance moves and cocktails before bed, and the Revolucion Cocktail is one of them. On top of the super strong cocktails, and the fun, vibrant vibe, the outdoor Mexican food stall, La Lupita (also owned and operated by the same team) led by chef Alberto Garcia, formerly of Billy’s Smokehouse, is worth making a trip out to Silom on its own. The tacos de carnitas (pork sin and pork shoulder confit, topped with onion, coriander and lime, B170 for two pieces) and the Cuban sandwich (homemade bread, Paris ham, pork shoulder confit, Monterey Jack cheese, mustard, B272) are a definite must-try.
