1. Europe is cheap right now

The euro has weakened against the Thai baht. But these things can change pretty quickly so the time to go is now.

2. The Shengen Visa

Granted, getting the actual visa (for us Thais) is a little bit more complicated than going to Japan. But it does give you access to 26 countries. That makes it well worth the effort.

3. The connections

Europe is one big interconnected continent, definitely the easiest one to navigate. Just make sure you fly to Europe on a local carrier with good reach, such as Lufthansa. Book a ticket to Milan, and you’re welcome to stay over in Frankfurt for a day trip to Heidelberg (the baroque old town is stunning) on the way there. You can even fly back from a different city, too. All for the cost of one roundtrip ticket--the domestic flights are pretty much free. Lufthansa also has Rail&Fly tickets combining flights and train connections. That’s a lot of cities packed into one ticket.

4. People speak Thai

OK, we’re pushing it there—although we have seen Thai-speaking staff in Louis Vuitton boutiques in London. More importantly, Lufthansa flights from Bangkok not only have German and English-speaking flight attendants, but also Thai-speaking ones. German efficiency and Thai hospitality, what’s not to love?

5. The tickets are cheap--even the nice ones!

Price-wise, things will start to heat up in August again. But right now, there are some amazing deals for those headed to Europe--and we don’t just mean in Economy class. The new Lufthansa Premium Economy Class has an all-in offer from only 39,900THB. It comes with 50% more personal space on board, upgraded food and services, double baggage allowance and purchasable lounge access.
