For the last three years, W Hotels Worldwide, in partnership with energy drink Burn, have been running a DJ search, entitled the W Hotels & Burn Studio DJ Lab, offering winners the opportunity to be mentored by top international DJs to create exclusive mixes for W hotels around the world. In 2013, the W Retreat Koh Samui  (Maenam Beach, Koh Samui, 02-915-999, www.wretreatkohsamui.com) will be the host resort for the DJ “boot camp,” which will also see a W Music Happening party take place on Sep 27, from 9pm till late. The event lets members of the public enjoy creative drinks along with select tunes from 2013 DJ Lab winners at WOOBAR. Entry is B500 with a welcome drink, or groups of up to 10 friends can get a pool-plunged pod for B20,000 with either a free bottle of Ciroc vodka and free mixers, or a 1.5-liter bottle of Veuve Clicquot.
