Bestival UK has been a staple on the European festival scene for the past 14 years, adopting a similar concept to Fuji Rock and Glastonbury where camping throughout the whole festival is the norm. Now they’re expanding to Bali on Sep 30-Oct 1, and they aren’t scrimping on the line-up either.

While it can’t beat UK’s amazing and eclectic gathering of artists (A Tribe Called Quest, Pet Shop Boys, Little Dragon, Dizzee Rascal and Wiley—just to name a few) at South England’s magnificent Lulworth Estate, there's plenty to love about Bestival Bali’s line-up. Held at Uluwatu’s picturesque Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, the festival will see the Mercury award-winning British indie outfit alt-J (would a Bangkok stopover be too much to ask?), who recently released their third studio record, as one of the many big-time headliners. Joining them are Canadian electronic duo Purity Ring, Indonesian-born reggae hotshot Ras Muhamed, and renowned crowd-pleasing funk group The Cuban Brothers.

The 240-acre parkland, littered with beautiful vistas and 25-meter tall limestone-carved cliffs, will also play host to drum and bass outfit Rudimental, who’ll be dishing out a smashing DJ set, legendary American hip-hop trio De La Soul, the grandfathers of funk and acid rock George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic and Indonesian pop duo, Stars and Rabbit. More artists will be announced at a later date. Tickets are already on sale (priced from US$200-$450 [B6,800-15,200]), available on their official website.

If Bestival UK is anything to go by, here’s what you can expect.
