Every April, a thousand-year-old spectacle takes place at Prasat Hin Khao Phanom Rong, a hilltop Khmer temple in Buriram. For but a few days, the rising and setting sunlight passes through the temple’s 15 aligned doorways. This year, the phenomenon will happen on three days for sunrise, Apr 2-4 at 6:03am, and three more for sunset, Apr 5-7 at 5:17pm. To celebrate the annual event, there is a week-long festival with a variety of cultural activities, from religious ceremonies to a series of parades and performances. Want to take the perfect shot? Make sure you go early enough to fight with the camera crews from every newspaper and TV channel in the kingdom. Full details at TAT Contact Center 1672.
