Good news for those tired of spending the night in a cramped minivan just to get to Koh Tao. From Oct 1, Nok Air (www.nokair.com) will start operating daily direct flights between Bangkok and Chumphon, the closet mainland airport to Koh Tao—the Gulf of Thailand’s top diving and party island. Chumphon itself is home to some very nice untamed beaches and you might easily fall in love with its peaceful ambiance. Rates are from B1,590/one-way, and advance bookings are now possible. Also, fans of Buriram United might find it easier to travel to home games at the Thunder Dome with Nok Air’s new Bangkok-Buriram flight, which starts from Sep 1 with rates from B1,990/one-way. Both routes are operated by 36-seat Saab 340B and leave from Don Muang Airport.
