Since the recent sudden closure of Nikki Beach, Northern Phuket has looked a little light on for modern beach clubs. But that's changed with the arrival of Skye Beach Club (www.skyebeachclub.com), a sleek semi-alfresco beachside lounge situated on the recently-buzzing Nai Yang Beach.

Decked out with crisp white furniture (what else?), the lounge plays host to a daily line-up of electronic DJs. There's no swimming pool, but also no entry fee—but guests must at least order some food or a round of drinks.

The head chef, who formerly spent time working at Gaggan, rolls out a menu that goes beyond the usual poolside fare like snow fish kebabs served with crusted herbs and parmesan (B690) and slow-cooked lamb shank (B890).

Formerly an isolated beach hidden away by farmlands, rubber plantations and pineapple fields, Nai Yang may not be quite as booming as its touristy counterparts but has recently welcomed a spate of nearby swanky drinking and dining venues like Hotel Indigo's Rivet.
