It'll be the "freak-folk" singer-songwriter's first time in Thailand.

Venezuelan-American folk artist Devendra Banhart will perform in Bangkok for the first time this Jun 16, gig organizer Have You Heard? has announced

Banhart, who first rose to fame as the poster-boy of the fleeting mid-'00s "freak-folk" movement, will perform an intimate solo show at Siam Motors Auditorium. Tickets, on sale for B1,500 at Haveyouheard.live from May 1, are limited to just 350 seats.

After a nomadic upbringing, Banhart released his debut album Oh Me, Oh My in 2002. His pair of 2004 albums, Rejoicing in the Hands and Nino Rojo, brought him wider attention for his sparse instrumentation and free-spirited, often fantastical lyrics.

This decade, Banhart has taken a more straightforward folk-pop route, releasing his ninth album, Ape In Pink Marble, in 2016.
