Toro, the Spanish restaurant located in Thonglor’s 72 Courtyard, will play host to the second edition of its quarterly Paella on the Patio Chef Battlethis Jun 30.

Watch guest chefs Paolo Vitaletti from Peppina and Joseba Jimenez from El Tapeo battle it out in the one-night-only paella showdown, and put your money where your mouth is for B1,500 (including three glasses of wine from Wine Garage).

Chef Paolo’s calling his paella “SPP (Surprise Paolo’s Paella),” and is promising a secret recipe inspired by traditional Roman cuisine. Chef Joseba’s “Arroz Negro a la Vasca” will be a Basque-style black paella that embraces the culinary traditions of north Spain.

Once you’re finished tasting, there will be a vote for the winner.

A long-time name on Bangkok’s culinary scene, Paolo was once chef at the Four Seasons and Shangri-La Bangkok before returning to his Roman culinary roots with Appia, which was followed by Peppina shortly after.

Chef Joseba has spent the last decade in different countries in Southeast Asia. He was nominated four times for the James Beard Foundation Award in the category “Best Chef in Northwest USA.” He now heads up El Tapeo, a Spanish wine bar-slash-restaurant on Thonglor.
