Over in Japan, they're gearing up for Hinamatsuri right now, otherwise known as Girls' Festival or Dolls' Festival. Celebrated for 900-odd years, Hinamatsuri started as a way of capturing evil spirits through the power of spooky-looking "Hina" dolls, but today serves as a family occasion for parents to wish their daughters a happy life.

It's also an excuse for a delicious feast, which is exactly what Okura Prestige has in store this Feb 25-Mar 6. At the hotel's kaiseki restaurant Yamazato, chef Shigeru Hagiwara will serve a special Girls' Day set dinner befitting the special occasion.

Priced at B3,000++, the meal features multiple courses of elaborate Japanese haute cuisine, including the highlight dish of Spanish mackerel and king crab served with asparagus, lotus root, eringi mushrooms, cauliflower sauce and soy sauce.

Or, for a lighter alternative, there's also a gozen set lunch (B900++) available on the same dates which features deep-fried Sakura shrimp with pond smelt fish.

Hinamatsuri is officially celebrated on Mar 3.
