1. The Best Brunch: Peameal bacon sandwich at 80/20

Charoenkrung’s rising-star restaurant 80/20 recently expanded its service to brunch on weekends (Sat-Sun,10am-2pm) with a new menu that’s not just your average eggy items. Our pick goes to the Peameal bacon sandwich (B190), a rich brioche bun jam-packed with glorious chunks of house-brined Canadian bacon, runny fried egg and garlic aioli. Feeling sweet? We can also vouch for the buckwheat pancake with Canadian maple syrup.
1052-1054 Charoenkrung Rd., 087-593-1936

2. The Best Late-Night Food Ever: Poutine at Sway

If you haven’t tried poutine, you’re really missing out. This classic Canadian dish is the ultimate in comfort food: piping-hot fries smothered with melted cheese and gravy. At Sway, you can have it straight (B170), with pulled pork (B220), butter chicken (B280) or “the works” (essentially bacon and ground beef, B250). If that sounds good now, just you wait till it's 1am Saturday night and you’ve just stepped out of Funky Villa. Heaven.

3. Maple Syrup on Everything: Everywhere

Everything’s better with maple syrup. And you’re spoiled for choice here in Bangkok, from the French toast with berries, whipped cream and maple syrup (B195) at Kuppa (39 Sukhumvit Soi 16., 02-259-1954) to the recently-launched brunch at Upstairs at Mikkeller (26 Ekkamai Soi 10 Yaek 2, 02-381-9891), where chef Dan Bark whips up crispy waffles, made using corn starch and coconut milk, which he serves with delicious toppings like the crispy-crusted tender fried chicken and maple syrup (B220). For a next-level dish, head to Chikalicious (5/F, Central Embassy, 1031 Phloen Chit Rd., 02-160-5892) whose star dessert combines four of our favorite things: donut, croissant, bacon and maple syrup—introducing the maple bacon dough’ssant (B120)! Thirsty? Bunker’s (118/2 Sathorn Soi 12, 092-563-9991) Bourbon Maple Sour (B360) is a must-try, combining bourbon, maple syrup, egg white and lime juice.

4. Summer Refresh: Blueberries and Cream Ice Cream at Haagen-Dazs.

With this flavor, premium ice-cream brand Häagen-Dazs adds bursts of juicy, sweet and sharply colored blueberries to balance out the creamy richness. Dig in! You’ll find real Canadian blueberries hidden in the indigo ice-cream. A 398g pint will set you back B359.
Available at Siam Paragon, Emporium and more locations around Bangkok.

5. Fresh Catches: Canadian Lobster at The Dock

At The Dock you can expect quality fresh seafood from well-known importer Thammachart. Canada’s long coastlines and clean water ensure its home to a diverse variety of delicious seafood, chief among them being the Canadian lobster. Actually the same species as Maine lobster (Homarus americanus), the lobsters caught in the cold waters of Nova Scotia are similarly sweet flavored and delicious. At The Dock you can have it fresh, sauteed with linguine or as lobster thermidor—all just waiting to be paired with a glass of wine or Champagne.
