By now you've heard that cult Tokyo coffee shop Omotesando Koffee and Osaka souffle pancake specialist Gram are both about to open Bangkok outposts.

Before then, though, it's the turn of Belle-Ville, a Japanese diner of the old-school variety which is known for its meringue made-to-order millefeuille (French for “thousand layers”) pancakes.

The cafe's flagship store located at the Umeda Whity underground shopping area in Osaka has been whipping out the jiggly desserts since 1958, and they only just opened their first foreign outlet, in Singapore.

Bangkok's Belle-Ville will open on Monday Jul 2 on the first floor of Esplanade Ratchada courtesy of franchisee Sunpark Co. Ltd. (the guys who brought us Beard Papa's), giving you a taste of their soft, stacked up pancakes in varieties like strawberry and mixed berry, mango, and grilled apple with salty homemade caramel.

On the savory side, expect things like cute little katsu sandwiches to go with a hot cup of Okinawa Tea Factory tea.
