BANGKOK RESTAURANT

September

This Bangna cafe serves Thai and Western classics amid a warm, Autumnal mood.

Bangna’s new Chic Republic mall is pulling in some pretty cool restaurants. Following hipster coffee shop Casa Lapin and much-hyped sushi bar Maguro, September hits the spot for comforting Thai and Western classics.

The Be Gray-designed space goes for a warm, Autumnal mood, while head chef and co-owner Chortip “Nhoi” Ouypornchaisakul (of Tales of Gold Mine and the now-defunct Parata Diamond) dishes out hearty fare like pork chop (B490) served with ricotta cheese, sauteed corn and brown butter sauce, and tortilla pizza (B200).

The Thai creations highlight big flavors like the kanom jeen gaeng tai pla (rice noodles with tai pla curry, B220) and yam nuea yang (grilled beef salad, B330).

Desserts from chef Watchararux Sintattasopon (of Surya Bakery) include white wine sangria poached pear (B200) and matoom bun (pecan bread roll with bael glaze and Earl Grey sauce, B170). Drinks focus on wine starting at B890/bottle.
