BANGKOK RESTAURANT

Phanfa

Don't expect any airs and graces from this 80-year-old Hainanese chicken-rice restaurant; it's all about the food.

This bare-bones restaurant on packs out every day with elderly Chinese men enjoying their retirement with Phanfa's legendary Hainanese chicken-rice and crabs' claws. The restaurant has been around for over 80 years, and prides itself on only serving chickens that are around 2.5kg—the healthy weight of an adult Thai chicken—along with beautifully plump rice that has a distinctly wheaty taste. And don't expect any airs and graces from the staff; Phanfa is all about the food.
