The buzz: Parata Diamond describes itself as a reflection of modern Moroccan decoration. The place has been in a soft-opening phase for around one month and they haven’t quite finished everything, but they’re already fully-booked on weekends, so call ahead.
The décor: Nestled in a restored, old house there’s a large open-air garden area where you can relax on a daybed enjoying a shisha or watching some short films. Inside is a sensual, all-black lounge with a long bar. There is a gallery on the second floor, as well as a terrace. Each month, different designers’ clothes are available for purchase. And don’t forget to visit the cute restroom.
The food: The menu is New American-style cuisine, with items like the harrissa lamb strudels (crispy homemade lamb phyllo with harrissa and topped with slow roasted pears and apricot relish, B245) and five-spice glazed beef short rib with rosemary pineapples, gingered potato puree and crispy onion (B690). For something lighter, try the beet salad (marinated green vegetables, gorgonzola croutons and passion fruit reduction, B250). Additionally, a dinner buffet with two cocktails is available on Mon and Tue for dishes like pan roasted salmon and pork belly confit beignets, as well as a buy-one-get-one happy hour Mon-Thu (6:30-10pm).
The drink: Bring your crew because their recommended cocktail, Parata Prae, is for 5-6 people; or ask for the Ahmed (bitter swizzle, B320), if you go by yourself. Red, white and sparkling wines range from B1,250-B5,900 a bottle.
The crowd: For now, some dolled-up girls and some buff guys—friends of the owners. Pretty sure we’ll be seeing the hi-so crowd very soon. Pieng-or Mongkolkumnuankhet
