Beef and burger specialist Arno’s takes on kaprao and guay tiew

The buzz: Arno's, the beef and burger specialist that’s popping up all over town, is now taking a foray into guay tiew and pad kaprao. This latest branch is located close to the office district of Sathorn, giving the workers a new lunch option to choose from.

The decor: Feels just like eating at any shophouse restaurant, except with an added glass front to keep the air con in. The venue is split into two rooms, one for sitting and the other for showcasing raw meat in freezers. It’s a little small, meaning grabbing a seat at lunchtime can be tricky—we suggest getting there after 1pm.

The food: As guay tiew and pad kaprao are Thailand’s most popular lunch choices, we tried both. We got the beef short rib noodles (B95) plus extra short ribs for B70—arriving in a big bowl, we could hardly see the noodles for all the beef! While this ticked all the boxes, we enjoyed the stewed beef pad kaprao with rice (B60) even more. While you’re at it, why not get ready for your afternoon meeting by cracking open a big bottle of Chang—at only B70/bottle, what could possibly go wrong?

The crowd: Neatly dressed Sathorn professionals who have grown bored of the lunch options around Chong Nonsi BTS.

Why you should care: With lunch options around Chong Nonsi quite limited, this spot provides a fresh, and not to mention affordable, option for weary office workers. Choltanutkun Tun-atiruj
