After waving goodbye to its 35-year-old home on Sukhumvit Soi 11 earlier in the year, Cheap Charlie's is coming back.

The well-loved outdoor bar, famous for its super-cheap drinks and eclectic look, will soon be returning at a new location on Sukhumvit Soi 50.

Located opposite the Tesco Lotus On Nut parking lot, the new Cheap Charlie's is just two shop-houses away from On Nut's only craft beer bar, Dog Step.

Though the bar is not scheduled to open until the end of this month, already construction workers are filling it with owner Satit Budkajang's familiar old collection of well-worn bric-a-brac.

Loved by locals and tourists alike, Cheap Charlie's was singlehandedly responsible for much of Soi 11’s popularity, turning the area into many people’s de facto after-work drinking hangout.

The bar's move to On Nut is already attracting comment from other old Soi 11 faces. Andrew Clark, co-founder of the long-gone Q Bar, tweeted, "Maybe On Nut needs a Q Bar, too."

Asked for comment on whether he was serious, Clark added, "It was a joke, but warrants some consideration."

Cheap Charlie's officially shut up shop at its original location on Mar 31 of this year, after the u-bend of bars and restaurants at the top of the street was eamarked for redevelopment. Watch our goodbye video below:
