The buzz: Ichi is yet another fresh bar on the busy road of Ekkamai, blooming right across big mama, Nanglen.
The décor: Mix and match may not be the top trends of fashion this year but it certainly is for Ichi, especially when they are trying to spread out lively vibes to the people of Ekamai. Prepare to be awakened by the spicy red-painted brick wall with white leather couches, vibrant yellow cubic stools and bright blue tables that are set facing the stage. If you happen to be with your boo for the night and are looking for some privacy, stop by the second floor and get a little more intimate with a game or two of pool. If you’re there solo, don’t forget to glance over Nanglen to see who’s hot or not. Who knows you might actually walk across to save a few of your naïve friends from being suffocated.
The music: The bands play every weekend from 9:30-11pm and again from midnight-1:30am singing everything from soft yesteryear-Thai tunes to upbeat alternative international songs. Don’t expect Kool Moe Dee to shout, “Do you know what time it is?”
The crowd: It wouldn’t be a surprise to see people stopping by at Ichi out of curiosity or simply trying to get some fresh air from a hardcore night in Nanglen. Ichi’s crowd seems to range from fresh graduates to, well, not-so-fresh graduates anymore.
The price: Whiskey B800-1,500, mixers B50, beers B120-145, food B70-120.
Why you’ll come back: The lineup for your Friday night includes unleashing your inner rock star by singing to your favorite Thai alternative tracks.
