One of the few places on Silom Soi 4 with a mixed crowd, Tapas plays house music nightly with a strong Latin influence, accompanied by live percussionists on the weekends. Whether hip parties on their two floors or laid-back private gatherings on the rooftop garden are your thing, you’re guaranteed to find fun here.
08-7057-6267. Open daily 8:30pm-2am.
Replacing Zy*go*sis, this stark white hangout has moved from the back of the soi to its present location. The music selection is fairly mainstream: commercial house Mon-Wed, hip hop on Fri-Sat and 80s on Sun.
02-234-3279. Open daily 6pm-1am. www.telephonepub.com.
Named for the telephones that used to connect the tables to each other, the pub has now relegated them to the walls in each section. A fun bar for men usually packed on weekends.
02-632-8013. Open Tue-Sun 5pm-1am.
Basked in overpowering red light and decorated to the same carnal tones, the smell of incense drifting throughout, Café 4 can make your head spin. Even though it has never claimed to be a gay bar, one look at the bartender and waiters will tell you you’re in pink territory. The house DJ plays house and dance tunes nightly but many people love to sit outdoors at the front of the bar.

Run by The Balcony and sponsored by Tiger beer, it’s just a row of seats and a table where you can sit and drink while watching people cruise up and down the soi.
08-1564-1807. Open daily 6pm-1am.
Plain and white single floor bar that has a small stage for drag shows. Music here is played by whoever—a DJ, waiter or manager. Expect radio pop and dance tunes.
02-632-8390. Open daily 7pm-late.
Consolidating its image as the only hip hop/house club in Soi 4, DJs spin mainstream hip hop tracks on the first floor and house on the second. The first floor sports a gangsta’ flava’—complete with graffiti. The second floor is a bit more staid (and spacious) with comfortable sofas and an outdoor patio complete with chandelier.

Perfect if you’re looking for a relaxed evening with good food and drinks and some karaoke. From 7-9pm there’s a happy hour with drinks at B49, and they have some regular theme nights as well.
02-234-7249. Open daily 6pm-1am. www.sphinxpub.com.
When they say straights are also welcome, you know there’s something fruity about the place. Sphinx has been serving great food—mainly Thai—at reasonable prices for 12 years. The service is also top-notch, though the uniforms look like they haven’t changed since the place opened. Upstairs is Pharaoh, a karaoke bar, which boasts a selection of songs that ranged from Western pop to Isaan.
02-233-2813. Open daily 5pm-1am.
Located to the end of the soi, this bar offers live music and DJ sets. In-house bands play mostly jazz, along with some blues and Latin tunes. Middle-aged farangs and Thais are the usual clientele and it’s become quite famous for its salsa night on Sun. Be warned: there are some real pros out there.
