For the annual CU International Film Festival 2015, the Department of Dramatic Arts, Chulalongkorn University, invites you to take a seat and share your opinion at the free screenings of nine award-winning films from nine countries, chosen because they were commercially overlooked in Thailand.

In honor of International Women's Day on Mar 8, the first week of the event is devoted to films depicting female protagonists as they struggle to overcome obstacles in different cultures and periods in history, from Post-WWI Poland to modern-day Belgium. 

All screenings are followed by a talk with professional film critics Kittisak Suvannapokhin (Season magazine) and Kong Rithdee (Bangkok Post).

Movies are subtitled in English and screened at 5pm every Mon, Wed and Fri (except Fri 20) From March 9-27.  

Highlights include:

Ida (Pawel Pawlikowski, Poland, 2013)
The story of a nun who discovers on the verge of taking her vows that her ancestry is Jewish. Mar 9

Two Days, One Night (Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne, Belgium, 2014)
A woman tries to convince her co-workers over the course of a weekend to give up their bonuses in order to save her job. Mar 11

Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem (Ronit Elkabetz and Shlomi Elkabetz, Israel, 2014)
Israel's strict religious laws concerning marriage put a woman on trail as she seeks to finalize a divorce from her cruel and manipulative husband. Mar 13

Keep On, Keepin’ On (Alan Hicks, USA, 2014)
The moving documentary follows jazz legend Clark Terry as he takes a young, blind piano prodigy under his wing. Mar 16  

Goodbye To Language 2D (Jean-Luc Godard, France, 2014)
The surreal film is based on a simple relationship between a married woman and a single man. Mar 23
