There was a rare round of midweek fixtures in the TPL on Wednesday night. The big winners on Coronation Day were Buriram PEA who bolstered their position at the top of the table with a 2-0 win at troubled Bangkok Glass. BEC Tero Sasana have moved up to second place at Chonburi’s expense after beating Chiang Rai Utd 3-1 in the capital, whilst the Sharks drop to third after being held 2-2 at home by Samut Songkhram. Last season’s champions Muangthong United comfortably saw off TTM Phichit 3-0 at the Yamaha Stadium and Army United drew 1-1 at Osotspa-Saraburi. The surprise result came from the PAT Stadium where Thai Port were defeated 1-0 by TOT, continuing their pretty indifferent home form. The minnows from Nonthaburi have now won back-to-back matches after failing to take a single point from their first five games. Police United drew 2-2 at home with Sisaket, Khon Kaen beat Sriracha 2-1 and struggling Siam Navy beat Pattaya 2-1 at the ground they both call home: the IPE Stadium in Chonburi.

Army take on the Dragons while Muangthong aim to sink Navy
Just two games in the capital this weekend, but one does promise to be a fascinating derby as Army United, who have had a decent start to the season, host high-flying BEC Tero Sasana at 6pm on Saturday at the Army Stadium, Din Daeng. Muangthong’s return to form since the disaster at Osotspa-Saraburi should continue as they visit Siam Navy, also at 6pm on Saturday. On Sunday, Police United take on Chiang Rai Utd away (4pm), and Bangkok Glass also have a trip north as they visit TTM Phichit (6pm). Inconsistent Thai Port have a huge task on their hands as they take on Buriram PEA away (6pm, Sunday). PEA are undefeated and top-of-the-table, but Port did record an impressive 3-1 win at Osotspa-Saraburi the last time they played away, so there may be hope. The only top-flight game to be played in the metropolis on Sunday is at the Yamaha Stadium as the resurgent TOT host Osotspa (6pm).

In Division 1, both Bangkok United and Bangkok F.C are at home on Sunday. United have a Rangsit derby against JW-Rangsit, and Bangkok F.C host Chainat at the Bangmod Stadium in Thonburi. Also on Sunday, Air Force United make the short journey from Pathum Thani to Minburi as they face Thai Honda. All three matches start at 6pm.
