Find out which of your favorite classics were once banned at Bookmoby’s Banned Books Festival Vol 2. The bookstore will be showcasing a variety of translated books from around the world that were once banned and censored for reasons such as religious affiliations, political bias, blasphemous content, and violence. Bookmoby has picked eight banned books to display from Jun 20-28, including Jack London’s The Call of the Wild, Allen Ginsberg’s Howl, Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and Gustav Flaubert’s Madame Bovary. Mahuna Books Et Cetera

The bookshop in Rama 6 Soi 30’s Aree Garden, Mahuna Books Et Cetera, will host Book Bazaar on Jun 27, from noon till 7pm. Expect 10 booths from small publishing companies, and various book-related activities, including exhibitions and a writer’s talk with two S.E.A Write Award recipients, Naowarat Pongpaiboon and Rewat Punpipat. There will also be a Mini Book Bazaar event for kids to learn and enjoy artistic activities and swap books. Participant numbers for the mini event are limited, so be quick.

This Jun 21, 2pm, at Steel Roses Restaurant & Bookshop in Bang Na you can join exchanging ideas about literary exploration with GM magazine editor Wuttichai Krisanaprakornkit, Happening magazine manager editor Vip Buraphadeja and staff from the Afterword startup. Suan Nguen Mee Na Green Shop

Suan Nguen Mee Na Green Shop is not only a bookstore but also an organic shop, a cafe and a restaurant, where organic lunch sets are served. This cafe-slash-bookstore hosts literary events pretty much every weekend. This Independent Booksellers Week, you can join a talk about the books that have shaped the likes of cartoonist Thiwawat Pattaragulwanit, Nant Books Publisher owner Nant Wittayadamrong and Salmon Books editor Patikal Phakguy. Suksit Siam

Another bookstore in the Old Town, Suksit Siam has been open almost 50 years now. Its book collection puts the focus on philosophy, religion, Thai history and literature. You can expect good deals on some Kled Thai and Siam titles, as this long-running bookshop is also their official outlet. During Independent Booksellers Week, you’ll get a 5-percent discount on all books. Drop by between 9am-6pm, Mon-Fri.

Passport Bookshop

This Phra Sumen staple specializes in books about Southeast Asia. Its quiet space on the seconnd floor is great for sitting and reading along with the scent of freshly brewed coffeee. This week, you'll find a basket containing three books  sitting in front of the shop, which passersby can read for free.
