You'll soon be able to earn a little extra pocket money for reporting motorbike drivers who drive or park on sidewalks. This is all part of City Hall's ongoing clean-up campaign of Bangkok which also includes the highly controversial clearance of street food and vendors around the city.

Set to officially launch by the end of May, the campaign invites people to send clear photos, videos and registration plate numbers of drivers they see on sidewalks to City Hall's hotline number 1555.

The reward? According to Prachachat and other Thai-language media reports, you'll get to take home half of the fine, which ranges from B1,000-B5,000 depending on the crime and whether or not it is the person's first case of misconduct.

If the offender in question is a motorbike driver, the image must also clearly their official vest, which includes information like their number and assigned motorbike stand.

Once the driver is tracked down and properly fined, the district office will pay the informant their reward.

For years, City Hall has attempted to prevent motorbike drivers from going on pavements to cut through traffic. They have set up several road blocking devices on pavements to try and stop this, but clearly to little success.
