Remember last October, when Bankok’s Metropolitan Police Bureau came up with a revolutionary idea? The police would actually tow illegally parked vehicles on 10 streets, in a bid to reduce traffic jams. They did and it helped. For a few short weeks, Bangkok was on its way to becoming as dull as Singapore.

Then the PDRC protests happened, and as you may have noticed, Bangkok’s traffic has now become crazier than ever, particularly near protest sites: cars parking on sidewalks, yet more motorcycles driving on sidewalks, not a helmet in site, etc.

Police have noticed, too, and have set a date for when they intend on getting back to work. Starting from Mar 1, the Bangkok Post reports that the men in brown will take “decisive action” at 40 major roads against the following:
1. parking in non parking areas
2. double parking
3. parking on footpaths
4. driving on footpaths
5. driving against the flow of traffic
6. overtaking other vehicles in congested traffic
7. running red lights
8. drink driving
9. not fastening seatbelt
10. using a mobile phone while driving
11.  overtaking at places where it is prohibited
12.  driving without a licence
13.  speeding

That leaves 20 days to psychologically prepare yourself, or maybe turn the above into a kind of bucket list where you can tick one off a day.
