This Sunday, Sep 21, the BMA plans to close Silom Road from Saladaeng Junction to Narathiwat Junction, from 8am-6pm, to give people a chance to stroll around and enjoy food, shopping and even a little live music, in scenes reminiscent of the protests earlier this year. There will also be exhibitions encouraging people to use public transportation, giveaways of free trees, plus free health checks at a BMA medical booth.

In preparation, the BMA will close two lanes of Silom Road on Sep 20 from noon-10pm and block the road completely from 10pm on Sep 20 to 6am of Sep 22.

Further road blocks will happen on Ratchadamnoen Road, Sri Ayutthaya Road and Ratchadamri Road, where there will be a bicycle parade on Sep 21 from 8:30-9:30am.

In related news, the BMA will also offer free public transport on Sep 21--if you buy a Bangkok Car Free Day silver badge at B50. This covers BTS (8am-9pm), MRT, BRT and normal buses and Chao Phraya Express Boat (orange flag only). You can buy the badge at all branches of Kiatnakin Bank, Seacon Square Mall at Bang Kae and Srinakarin Road, CentralWorld and Terminal 21.
